We rationalize and analyze and justify our “needs” because it makes sense and seems to be the right thing for us. But do we defer to God in these matters? Do we really trust Him and are we willing to have it not be all about us? Are you willing to give it up and give it back to God, whatever your “it” may be?

When it comes to listening to God, am I testing or trusting? Though we may want to deny it and choose to be impulsive rather than wait, who is really in control when you get down to it? There is freedom in surrendering ultimate control but our flesh will violently fight against our desired obedience. Even small points of obedience are great in His sight.

What happens when we get so progressive that we depart from our original teaching? Am I known more for what I am for or for what I’m against? All of God’s giants were weak people; Moses, Gideon, Abraham, Peter, David, and the list goes on. Our own brokenness can be a place of healing for others, if we allow it.

We look at the different fruit that comes from legalism (religiosity) compared to the fruit of grace. What it really boils down to is the Cross. It is a point of connection and contention. Do you live via big talk and big words or do you walk humbly in relationship?

A word can either accomplish or destroy. We need to LOOK OUT with respect to what comes out of our mouth. We either speak out of our present relationship with God or from our insecurities. Do we speak of God as if He were in the room or far away? Do we talk about what God has done or what He is currently doing?
